Tripsin (EC 3.4.21.4) je serinska proteaza iz PA klana superfamilije u probavnom sistemu mnogih kičmenjaka, gdje hidrolizira proteine.[2] Otkrio ga je njemački Wilhelm Kühne (1837.-1900.), 1876.[3] Tripsin se proizvodi u pankreasu kao neaktivna proteaza tripsinogen. Tripsin cijepa peptidane lance uglavnom na karboksilnoj strani aminokiselina lizin ili arginin, osim kada je praćen prolinom. Koristi se za brojne biotehnološke procese. Takvi procesi se obično nazivaju tripsini ili proteoliza tripsinizacija, a proteini koji su tretirani tripsinom kaže se da su tripsinizirani.[4][5][6] [7][8][9][10]
