The 1801 North Carolina gubernatorial election was held on 25 November 1801 in order to elect the Governor of North Carolina. Incumbent Federalist Governor Benjamin Williams was re-elected by the North Carolina General Assembly against Democratic-Republican candidate and former member of the U.S. House of Representatives from North Carolina's 3rd district John Baptista Ashe and fellow Democratic-Republican candidate and former Federalist Governor Richard Dobbs Spaight.[1]
