On 10 July 2017, the first Monday of the month of Shraavana, 8 Hindu civilian pilgrims (seven of whom were women), en route from Amarnath Temple in Kashmir Valley (Jammu and Kashmir), were killed in an Islamist terror attack.[6][7] The pilgrims mostly belonged to the Indian state of Gujarat.[8][9] At least 19 others were injured in the attack.[10]
