Afrikan Alexandrovich Spir,[a] also spelled African Spir (1837–1890), was a Russian philosopher of German-Greek descent who wrote primarily in German, but also French.[2][3][4]
His book Denken und Wirklichkeit (Thought and Reality, 1873) had a significant influence on several eminent philosophers, scholars and writers such as Hans Vaihinger, Friedrich Nietzsche, William James, Leo Tolstoy and Rudolf Steiner.[b]
