Alasht (Persian: آلاشت)[a] is a city in the Central District of Savadkuh County, Mazandaran province, Iran.[4]
At the 2006 census, its population was 976 in 287 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 874 people in 279 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,193 people in 436 households.[2]
Alasht is isolated by surrounding mountains, which gives it a cooler climate than most regions of the province. It is most known for being the birthplace of Reza Shah Pahlavi, the founder of the Pahlavi dynasty.[citation needed]
