Haiti has a sizable diaspora, present primarily in the United States, Panama, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Canada, France (including its French Caribbean territories[6]), the Bahamas, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Chile. They also live in other countries like Costa Rica, Mexico, Bolivia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Venezuela, Argentina, Barbados, Dominica, Suriname, Aruba, Guyana, Belgium, Switzerland, United States Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands, among others.
In the United States there are an estimated 2,003,000 people of Haitian ancestry, according to the 2010 Census; an estimated 500,000–800,000 Haitians live in the Dominican Republic[7] and there is a Haitian community of about 165,000 in Canada.[8] There are 185,865 Haitians in Chile,[2] the Haitian community in France numbers about 58,973,[5][9] and up to 80,000 Haitians now live in the Bahamas.[10] As of 2023, 161,000 Haitians were estimated to live in Brazil.[11]
