His Polyvinyl Girl

His Polyvinyl Girl is a 1961 British television play that aired as an episode of Armchair Theatre. It was a musical.[1] It was directed by Philip Saville.

Writer Steve Vinayver and composer Carl Davis were American. They arrived in London and pitched the idea of a musical to Sydney Newman, head of drama at ATV. Newman did not think it suitable but liked their talent and commissioned them to write an original musical which became His Polyvinyl Girl. Newman called it "an oddball winner — a charmingly told story with delightful music to match."[2]
