INSEAD (/ɪnsæd/ IN-see-ad),[8] a contraction of "Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires" (lit.'European Institute of Business Administration'),[9] is a non-profit graduate business school that maintains campuses in France, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. INSEAD is a part of Sorbonne University Alliance. Its degree programmes are postgraduate-only, taught in English and include a full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA), an Executive MBA (EMBA), Master in Management (MIM), Doctor of Business Administration (PhD), Executive Master of Finance (EMFin) and executive education programmes.

INSEAD is very global and diverse, with a policy of admitting no more than 12% of students of the same nationality.[10] It frequently appears on rankings of the best business schools such as QS World and the Financial Times. Its elite MBA program is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious programs in the world, and has produced the second-most number of CEOs of the world's 500 largest companies, behind Harvard Business School's,[11] and the sixth most billionaires among MBA programmes.[12] INSEAD is among the top 20 universities globally that produced most of the world's ultra high-net-worth individuals.[13][14] INSEAD's MBA program is especially highly regarded in the consulting industry, with its MBA program consistently producing the largest number of global post-MBA hires for top firms including at McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, and the Boston Consulting Group.[15] In 2023 alone, over 250 graduates from a single MBA cohort secured employment at either McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, or Boston Consulting Group , accounting for approximately 30% of the class. [16]

The school also has a particularly strong reputation for global entrepreneurship, with the school estimating around ~50% of alumni will found a company at some point in their careers.[17] In 2023, Pitchbook analysed global venture capital investment data and found that INSEAD was fourth worldwide in terms of capital raised, founder count, and company count (only behind Harvard, Stanford, and Wharton) [18] As of 2022, INSEAD graduates have founded 18 unicorns, making the school the #1 unicorn producing university in Europe.[19] Approximately 800 alumni of the school founded more than 700 companies, which in total raised $23 billion.[20] As of 2023, Harvard University, Stanford University, and INSEAD are the only three universities ever to top Poets and Quants's list of most-funded startup by MBA students.[21]

Notable companies founded by INSEAD alumni include Marshall Wace,[22]Admiral Group,[23] Wise,[24] Nubank,[25] MongoDB Inc.,[26] AXIS Capital,[27] Asklepios Kliniken,[28] L'Occitane,[29] Gorillas,[30] Blablacar,[31] Tudou,[32] Light Chaser Animation Studios,[33] ESR Group,[34] dLocal,[35] 99 (app)[36] and Business Insider.[37]
