Majhi (Gurmukhi: ਮਾਝੀ, Shahmukhi: ماجھی, Punjabi: [mä˦d̆.d͡ʒi˨][1]), also known as Central Punjabi, is a dialect or variety of the Punjabi language,[2] spoken in the Majha region of the Punjab, between Pakistan and India. The two most important cities in this area are Lahore and Amritsar because of their historic significance.

Standard varieties of Punjabi are based on Majhi, with influences from Western Punjabi in Pakistan and Eastern Punjabi in India.
