The Moderates,[1][2] also known as Modern Liberals,[3][4] Small-L Liberals[5] or Liberal Left,[6] are members, supporters, voters and a faction of the Liberal Party of Australia who are typically economically, socially and environmentally liberal.[7][8][9] The faction has been described as centre[6][10][11] to centre-right.[12] The office of Leader of the Liberal Party is currently held by Sussan Ley, who is also Leader of the Opposition. Ley was elected leader in May 2025 and is the first woman to hold both positions, she is from the Moderates faction and is a republican.[13]

They compete with the Liberal Party's other two major factions: the National Right and the Centre Right.
