The Murusade, (Somali: Murursade, Mursal; Arabic: مرسذه ,مرسل) also contemporarily known as Mursal, are a Somali subclan, part of the Karanle branch of the larger Hawiye Clan. They primarily reside in the central regions of Somalia, with a particular focus on the Galgaduud, Mudug, Middle Shabelle, Lower Shabelle[1] and Banadir regions, among others.
The Mursal traditionally consist of nomadic pastoralists, coastal people, merchants and farmers. They are historically viewed as an affluent clan. They are also one the earliest inhabitants of Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia.[2] They hold a position of great significance and influence within Somalia. Their presence can be felt in various spheres of life in Mogadishu, attesting to their prominence and contribution to the socio-cultural fabric of the metropolis.[3]
