Religion in the Philippines

Christianity is the predominant religion in the Philippines,[1] with the Catholic Church being its largest denomination. Sizeable minorities adhering to Islam, Dharmic religions (Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism), and indigenous Philippine folk religions (Anito or Anitism) are also present.

The country is secular and its constitution guarantees freedom of religion. Before the arrival of Spanish missionaries, the various ethnic groups residing in the territory of modern-day Philippines practiced a variety of faiths.
