Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his campaign for the 2024 United States presidential election on April 19, 2023.[9] An environmental lawyer,[10] writer, and member of the Kennedy family, he is known for advocating anti-vaccine misinformation[11][12][13] and public health conspiracy theories.[14] He initially ran for the Democratic Party nomination, but announced on October 9, 2023, that he would run as an independent candidate.[15]
Kennedy holds a diverse set of traditionally liberal, conservative, and libertarian views, in addition to his conspiracy theories.[11][16][17][18] Kennedy initially received support from independents and youth,[19] while also drawing generally equal support from Republican and Democratic voters; hypothetical polling suggests that his candidacy would draw further votes from Donald Trump.[20][21] His campaign has also received strong support and praise from various tech industry executives in Silicon Valley.[22][23][24] Reactions to his campaign from his extended family has been largely negative.[25][26]
On March 26, 2024, Kennedy announced Nicole Shanahan as his running mate.

Cheryl Hines has publicly condemned a statement made by her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at a rally on Sunday, in which the environmental lawyer and conspiracy theorist likened COVID regulations to the Holocaust.
The younger Kennedy has campaigned on environmental issues but is also a leading vaccines conspiracy theorist and activist against shots including those approved to combat Covid-19, which has killed more than 805,000 in the US and more than 5.3 million worldwide.
With minority and younger voters seeming intrigued, Kennedy, for now, enjoys the kind of demographic support his charismatic father and uncles generated decades ago
