Sedgefield was a constituency in County Durham represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.
Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat was abolished. Subject to major boundary changes, though retaining the town of Sedgefield, the constituency will be reformed Newton Aycliffe and Spennymoor to reflect the two largest communities in the revised seat and will be first contested at the 2024 general election.[3]
