Sugata (सुगत) is a Sanskrit epithet for Gautama Buddha. ^{[1][2][web 1]} In some sects of Vaishnavism, a Sugata Buddha is regarded as the ninth avatar of Vishnu,^[3] instead of Gautama Buddha.
