Boride hydride are compounds containing both boride and hydride ions. They can be considered as borides with interstitial hydrogen. Nd₂Fe₁₄BH_5.5 is used during the manufacture of neodymium iron boride magnets. By subjecting Nd₂Fe₁₄B to hydrogen at moderate temperature, it absorbs quite a lot of hydrogen to form the boride hydride. This substance is brittle and can be milled to a fine powder. This can be sintered or glued together.
