Boride hydride are compounds containing both boride and hydride ions. They can be considered as borides with interstitial hydrogen. Nd2Fe14BH5.5 is used during the manufacture of neodymium iron boride magnets. By subjecting Nd2Fe14B to hydrogen at moderate temperature, it absorbs quite a lot of hydrogen to form the boride hydride. This substance is brittle and can be milled to a fine powder. This can be sintered or glued together.
