I'm a native New Yorker, an historian and the founder of the Winged Fist Organization, which is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Irish American Athletic Club. This amateur athletic club was active in the first two decades of the 20th Century, and included a number of world-class athletes and Olympic medalists. Their emblem was a winged fist, which is why I chose this as my user name. I live in an apartment complex called Celtic Park on the Sunnyside / Woodside border in Queens, New York, which was built on the location of the Irish American Athletic Club's track and field, also called Celtic Park. I'm currently working on a book on this subject. My interests include Irish, Irish American, Queens, New York and New York City history.
