Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Joondalup

Wikipedia Takes Joondalup is a photo scavenger hunt in the spirit of Wikipedia Takes Your City to be held in Joondalup, Western Australia, located 26 kilometres (16 mi) north of the city of Perth. It follows from the success of Wiki Takes Fremantle (the first ever event of its type in Australia), and is being organised by WikiProject Western Australia along with the Local History Library, City of Joondalup.

This event is aimed at increasing the coverage of free photographs from Perth's outer northern suburbs so that they can be used in Wikipedia articles which need pictures, as well as promoting awareness of Wikipedia in the region. It also seeks to bring more attention to, and assist with, the City of Joondalup's Picture Joondalup project, which is an Internet based service designed to preserve valuable and unique historical photographs and the stories behind them.

You don't have to be involved in Wikipedia, or an amazing photographer, or anything in particular other than interested in Joondalup and helping record just one day in history. A list of goals is provided, and you walk/ride/bus/drive around the area taking some number of photos of each of them, before regrouping back at the venue in the afternoon for uploading and prize-giving.

The event page is now active on the Scavenger Hunt tool. The goal list hasn't been transferred yet, but will be soon.
