William Ernest Powell Giles, meglio noto come Ernest Giles (Bristol, 20 luglio 1835 – Coolgardie, 13 novembre 1897[1]), è stato un esploratore britannico che guidò cinque importanti spedizioni in Australia centrale[2][3]. Tra le sue scoperte vi fu il lago Amadeus.
