Robert Owen (/ˈoʊɪn/; 14 May 1771 – 17 November 1858) was a Welsh textile businessman, philanthropist and social reformer. He was one founder of utopian socialism and the cooperative movement. He is known for work to improve factory working conditions for his workers.
