Saltdal (Northern Sami: Sálát) is a municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Salten. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Rognan. Other villages in Saltdal include Røkland and Lønsdal.
The 2,216-square-kilometre (856 sq mi) municipality is the 26th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Saltdal is the 187th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 4,650. The municipality's population density is 2.2 inhabitants per square kilometre (5.7/sq mi) and its population has decreased by 2% over the previous 10-year period.[4][5]
