Abki Baar 400 Paar

Modi addressing an election rally in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand (2014)

Abki Baar 400 Paar (Hindi: अबकी बार, 400 पार, lit.'This time surpassing 400') was a Hindi slogan Written By Manish Muradiya used by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The slogan sought to publicise the target set by Modi and his party alliance, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to win more than 400 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats in the 2024 general election.[1][2][3] The last time a party won more than 400 seats in Lok Sabha was the Indian National Congress (Indira) in 1984 following the assassination of Indira Gandhi.

The BJP has used the slogan in earlier elections, such as the 2019 general election, albeit with various modifications. It now serves as both a rallying cry and a representation of the party's political goals for its adherents.[4]

The national leadership of the party, including Prime Minister Modi, Party President J P Nadda, and Amit Shah, have actively used the slogan while campaigning at political rallies.[5][6][7]

Election analysts have said that the path for the BJP to achieve this goal will likely be by winning more seats in the south of India than in previous elections.[8] While multiple theories have been postulated behind this motive, many political analysts agree that BJP has raised this slogan in order to achieve the two-third supermajority in the Lok Sabha required to implement major amendments to the Constitution without any restrictions from its allies or opposition parties, like implementing simultaneous polls & abolishing personal laws of non-Hindus.[citation needed] Union Minister Ananthkumar Hegde has claimed that the BJP will utilise this supermajority to remove provisions of secularism & replace Gandhian philosophy with Hindutva as the official ideology of the nation, whereas Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma claims that it will be utilized to reestablish Hindu holy sites and annex Pakistani Kashmir.[9][10]
