Bangladesh Agricultural University (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, lit.'Bangladesh Krishi Bishshobiddalôe'), abbreviated as BAU,[2] was established in 1961. It is the first agricultural university and also the second largest public university of Bangladesh.[3][4] This university is located in Mymensingh.[5][6] The university has 44 departments.[7]

BAU was the second highest budgeted public university in Bangladesh for the year 2013–2014. It is ranked number one university of Bangladesh according to the webometrics university ranking 2017.[8][9] BAU has been ranked 2nd in the Bangladesh in the Times higher education world university ranking 2022.[10][11] In May 2024 BAU ranked 3rd in the country in the Times Higher Education Ranking.[12][13] It is one of the top ranked agricultural university in Asia.[14]
