The Battle of Lachin was a military operation during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, undertaken by the National Army of Azerbaijan in order to regain control over the Lachin corridor, controlled by the army of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) since 18 May 1992.[3] It was one of the fiercest battles in this direction that unfolded in the autumn of that year.
