Robert George Good (born September 11, 1965)[1] is an American politician from the Commonwealth of Virginia. A member of the Republican Party, he is currently the U.S. representative from Virginia's 5th congressional district. Prior to his election to Congress, Good served as a member of the Board of Supervisors in Campbell County, Virginia for three years. He also worked in development at his alma mater, Liberty University, and for Citi.
Good was first elected to Congress in 2020, after defeating incumbent Denver Riggleman in the Republican primary. Good supported the Removal of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House and became chair of the House Freedom Caucus in January 2024.
Good faced a primary challenge from state senator John McGuire. McGuire's victory was certified on July 2, by a margin of 0.6%, but Good has said he will seek a recount.[2][3] Good insinuated that the election was marred by fraud, drawing ridicule from fellow Republican members of Congress.[4][5] Good sought to block the certification of election results in Lynchburg, the biggest city in the district.[6]
