Carola Rackete (pronounced [kaˈʁoːla ʁaˈkeːtə];[nb 1] born 8 May 1988) is a German sea captain and conservation scientist, who volunteered with the German sea rescue organisation Sea-Watch.[1][2] In June 2019, she was arrested for docking a migrant rescue ship without authorization in the port of Lampedusa, Italy.
