Civil Service Commissioners for Northern Ireland, first established in 1999 to uphold the Merit Principle in selection for appointment to the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS). Their aim is to ensure that this should be on merit, on the basis of fair and open competition.[1][2]
Now the Commissioners are regulated by regulations written in 2007.[3]

The Civil Service Commissioners for Northern Ireland ("The Commissioners") in exercise of their powers under the terms of Articles 4(2) and 6 of the Civil Service Commissioners (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 ("the Order"), and with the approval of the Secretary of State, hereby make the following Regulations.
