There were various criticisms of Qatar's suitability to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with the belief that it was unfit leading to allegations of corruption and bribery in the bidding process based on the belief that the unsuitability would have prevented it from being selected as host without corruption at play. There was further criticism in the run-up to, and at, the World Cup, as unsuitable factors including the climate, cost, and elements of Qatari culture clashing with international tourism, came to the fore.
