Diegesis (/ˌdaɪəˈdʒiːsɪs/; from Ancient Greek διήγησις (diḗgēsis) 'narration, narrative', from διηγεῖσθαι (diēgeîsthai) 'to narrate') is a style of fiction storytelling which presents an interior view of a world in which the narrator presents the actions (and sometimes thoughts) of the characters to the readers or audience. Diegesis can be experienced by both the characters within a piece and the audience.
