Hayat Khan was the Brigadier of the Pakistan Army stationed at Khulna during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He is known for his role in the Battle of Shiromoni, where he led his forces against the joint Bangladeshi and Indian troops even after the fall of Dhaka and the surrender of Pakistan in most other parts of the country.

Hayat Khan's forces were eventually defeated and he surrendered on December 17, 1971, marking the end of the war in Khulna.
