Maribel Romero (full name: María Isabel Romero Sangüesa) is a linguist and professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Konstanz. Her research addresses semantics, pragmatics and the syntax-semantics interface.[1][2][3] Romero earned her PhD in linguistics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1998 with a dissertation entitled, "Focus and Reconstruction Effects in Wh-Phrases."[2][4] In 2022, she was elected as a Member of the Academia Europaea.[3]
