  • Comment: Is the article supposed to be about the position or the holder of the position? If it's intended to be about the position, I recommend removing the paragraph about Leo Garciga. Shadow311 (talk) 00:09, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

As Chief Information Officer, Leo Garciga is the principal adviser to the United States Secretary of the Army on information resource management (IRM) and information technology (IT) and the effect of IRM and IT on warfighting capabilities. He sets the strategic direction for and oversees the execution of policies and programs for IRM and IT, including managing an integrated IT architecture, information sharing policy, cybersecurity policy and cybersecurity program management, managing the life cycle of IT resource management processes, and ensuring the synchronization of the information enterprise.

The United States Army Chief Information Officer/G-6 (CIO/G-6) previously was a dual role, reporting both to the secretary of the Army as CIO, and also to the chief of staff of the Army as G-6. The roles were realigned in 2020, and split into two seperate positions, CIO and G6. The realignment came after several months of planning and coordination.[1] Leo Garciga serves as the second SES Civillian to hold the role of Chief Information Officer, succeeding his predecessor, Dr. Raj. Iyer.
