Edelman is an American public relations and marketing consultancy firm. It was founded in 1952 and named after its founder, Daniel Edelman.[1] Since 1996 and as of November 2023, the company has been run by his son Richard Edelman.[2] As of 2022, it is the largest public relations firm in the world by revenue,[3] with around 6,000 employees[4] across 60 global offices.[5]

Edelman has a history of establishing astroturf campaigns (seemingly grassroots groups that are fronts for industry) for its clients.[6][7][8] The company has provided services for the fossil fuel industry, which includes earning hundreds of millions of dollars to advocate on behalf of the American Petroleum Institute, a fossil fuel industry group dedicated to the advancement of climate change denial and blocking of climate legislation.[8][9] It is a partner organization of the World Economic Forum.[10]
