Elliott B. Broidy (born 1956 or 1957) is an American former unregistered lobbyist[2][3] and businessman. From 2005 to 2008, he served as finance chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and deputy finance chairman of the RNC from 2017 to 2018.
From 2017 to April 2018, Broidy was a deputy finance chairman of the RNC, resigning after The Wall Street Journal reported that he had been a party to a non-disclosure agreement with former Playboy Playmate Shera Bechard, under which he paid $1.6 million for her non-disclosure of details related to an affair between them. He also resigned his seat on the board of the Republican Jewish Coalition.
In October 2020, Broidy pleaded guilty to acting as an unregistered foreign agent working for Chinese and Malaysian interests, for allegedly concealing the foreign principals he represented.[4][5] Broidy was charged as part of a federal probe into efforts to influence the Trump administration to stop investigations about a 1MDB Malaysian state fund fraud.[6]
On January 19, 2021, Broidy was pardoned by President Donald Trump.[7]
