The official flag of Minnesota consists of a dark blue field representing the night sky and the shape of the U.S state of Minnesota, a bright blue field representing the state's abundant waters, and an eight-pointed star representing the North Star using a design prominently featured at the Minnesota State Capitol.[2]

The current design was adopted in 2024 following a redesign commission. This is the fourth design for the official flag of Minnesota since 1893.
