Government of Scotland

Since 1999, executive powers for non-reserved matters of the government of Scotland rests in the hand of the Scottish Government (the "Scottish Executive" between 1999 and 2007 (de facto)/2012 (de jure)), whereas legislative powers for non-reserved matters are within the competence of the Scottish Parliament.

The High Court of Justiciary has since its existence always been the supreme court for criminal cases even before devolution in 1999, whereas for civil cases the supreme court is the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom since 2009, replacing the previous function of the Law Lords.
