Hainan University (HainanU or HNU) is a provincial public university in Haikou, Hainan, China. It is affiliated with the Province of Hainan, and co-funded by the Hainan Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Finance. The university is part of Project 211 and the Double First-Class Construction.^[1]

It is a comprehensive key university formed by a merger with the then South China University of Tropical Agriculture (华南热带农业大学) in August 2007.
