John Allen (settler)

John Allen (1806–1879) was an English settler in the colony of Van Diemen's Land (later Tasmania) who had some success as a farmer. He also made an early crude sketch of some aboriginals which was brought to England and formed the basis of an oil painting now held by the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.[1]
