Kim Myeong-su (Korean김명수; Hanja金命洙; born 12 October 1959) is a South Korean jurist and the 16th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Korea, inaugurated on 25 September 2017, succeeding the outgoing Yang Sung-tae. Following his resignation of his office of the Chief Justice (related to retirement) on September 24, 2023, the role of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is assumed by Ahn Chul-sang (as acting president and Senior Judge of the Supreme Court) until a new Supreme Judge is appointed by the National Assembly After a long period by interim; December 8, 2023; the 18th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Korea is appointed: Professor Holder of the Chair of Law of Sungkyunkwan University; Cho Hee-dae[1]
