Laverne Smith (born September 12, 1954) is an American former professional football player who was a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 1977 NFL draft. He played college football at the University of Kansas and attended Wichita Southeast High School in Wichita, Kansas.
