Mahopac (/ˈmeɪəˌpæk/ or /ˌməˈhoʊpæk/) is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in the town of Carmel in Putnam County, New York, United States. Also known as Lake Mahopac, the exurb is located some 47 miles (76 km) north of New York City, on U.S. Route 6 at the county's southern central border with Westchester County. As of the 2020 census, the population was 8,933.[2]
