Marota City is an under-construction development project in Damascus, Syria.[1][2] It is a mixed–use development project located near Umayyad Square.[3][4] The project is viewed as a post-war reconstruction efforts to progress Syria after the years long civil war, which was started in 2011.[5] The project symbolizes post-war reconstruction of Syria.

The project provides 110 thousand job opportunities and 27 thousand permanent job opportunities.[6] The project site is located on the side of international road of Damascus, which connects to Lebanon and Jordan.[6] The origin of Marota city word is Syriac, and it means in Arabic the sovereignty, and this is what suits Syria, which was and will remain a sovereign country.[6] However the project have also met with criticism.
