Rabbi Meshullam ben Kalonymus[1] (Hebrew: משולם בן קָלוֹנִימוּס also known as Rabbeinu Meshullam, Meshullam the Great, Meshullam the Roman and also spelled defective in Hebrew: מְשֻׁלָּם; ~950 – ~1010), was born in Lucca, Italy, or in Mainz, Germany. He was a posek (halakhic decision maker) of the Gaonic period, a commentator on the Mishnah and a Paytan (liturgical poet).[2]
