Nicholas Frederick Brady (born April 11, 1930) is an American politician from the state of New Jersey, who served as the United States Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush from 1988 to 1993, and is also known for articulating the Brady Plan in March 1989. In April 1982, he was appointed to finish the unexpired term of Harrison A. Williams as a member of the United States Senate following Williams' resignation due to a planned expulson vote in the wake of the Abscam sting operation. Brady is the last Republican to hold New Jersey's Class 1 U.S. Senate seat.
