Pawnee (Pawnee: Paári,[4] Iowa-Oto: Páñi Chína[5]) is a city and county seat of Pawnee County, Oklahoma, United States.[6] The town is northeast of Stillwater at the junction of U.S. Route 64 and State Highway 18.[7]

It was named for the Pawnee tribe, which was relocated to this area between 1873 and 1875.[8] The population was 2,190 at the 2010 census, a decline of 1.5 percent from the figure of 2,230 recorded in 2000.[9]
