Pterygium

Pterygium of the eye

A pterygium (pl.: pterygia or pterygiums) is any wing-like triangular membrane occurring in the neck, eyes, knees, elbows, ankles or digits.[1]

The term comes from the Greek word pterygion meaning "wing".
