Winning the 2012 College World Series (CWS) with the Wildcats, Refsnyder was named the CWS Most Outstanding Player.

The Yankees selected Refsnyder in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB draft. He began playing second base and became one of the Yankees' top prospects. He made his MLB debut with the Yankees in 2015. Subsequently, he played for the Toronto Blue Jays, the Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers, and Minnesota Twins before signing with the Red Sox ahead of the 2022 season.
