The Shanghai Grand Theatre (simplified Chinese: 上海大剧院; traditional Chinese: 上海大劇院; pinyin: Shànghǎi dà jùyuàn) is a complex located at the intersection of Renmin Avenue and Huangpi North Road in the northern part of the People's Square in the Huangpu District of Shanghai. The building houses the Shanghai Opera House and other performing companies.[1]

Designed by French architect Jean-Marie Charpentier together with the Institute of Architectural Design of Eastern China,[2] since its opening on August 27, 1998, it has staged performances of operas, musicals, ballets, symphonies, chamber music, and Chinese operas.[3]
