Sharmin Segal Mehta (née Segal; born 28 September 1995)[citation needed] is an Indian actress who works in Hindi films. She began her career as an assistant director to her maternal uncle Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and made her acting debut in his production, Malaal (2019), receiving a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Segal has since starred in the film Atithi Bhooto Bhava (2022) and the series Heeramandi (2024). Sharmin's acting became a huge topic of discussion after she got trolled and started receiving hate comments on social media since she starred in Heeramandi which was directed by her maternal uncle and was referred as expressionless, product of nepotism and arrogant after she said that she took inspiration of her role from legendary actress Meena Kumari's role in Pakeezah.[1][2]
