Siege of Barwara (1757)

Marathas under Raghunath Rao and Malhar Rao Holkar laid siege to the fort of Barwara. The fort was successfully defended by the garrison. After which the Marathas agreed to a smaller sum than what was initially demanded.

Orient Longman. p. 192. the ineffective siege of Barwada, the strong attitude of Madho Singh, forced Raghunath to lose more than three months and feed his huge army in idleness in Jaipur territory....10th July agreed to accept eleven lakhs from Jaipur, six of which was paid down, and shared between Raghunath and Malhar...Raghunath had been reduced to a desperate state of destitution, as he wrote to Peshwa "I have no money, nor is any loan available. My troops are in debt. Prices are very high. I am daily getting my food only by sacking the villages."
